SEEPEG 2009
In September 2009 we hosted the 1st South-Eastern European Pediatric Gastroenterology (SEEPEG) Meeting in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
This was an event attended by several colleagues, clinicians, researchers and clinical dieticians from South-Eastern Europe who specialize or share an interest in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.
Speakers were selected among major experts and opinion leaders of pediatric gastroenterology from Europe and USA and included Yvan Vandenplas (Belgium), Petar Mamula (USA), Hania Szajewska (Poland), Sanja Kolaček (Croatia), Andras Arato (Hungary), Alexandra Papadopoulou (Greece), Vojislav Perišić (Serbia), to name just a few.
Main topics of the 1st SEEPEG meeting were: gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), gastrointestinal allergies and nutrition.
During the course of the meeting two working groups - for esophageal diseases and for IBD were formed, which continue their work and research in future.
The meeting was a great success and we are already eagerly preparing the 2nd SEEPEG which will be held in 2011.
